This classic New Orleans cocktail from the 1930s is one of my favorites. I love the mix of whiskey with the herbal notes from the Bénédictine, Peychaud's bitters, and the pastis. Celebrate Mardi Gras and New Orleans with a lovely classic cocktail.
1oz rye whiskey
.75oz sweet vermouth
3 dashes pastis
3 dashes Peychaud's bitters
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass and stir with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and express the oil from a lemon peel over the drink.
