About Nihan Atalay
Nihan began her musical studies in Turkey at the Mimar Sinan University of Istanbul in 1992 where she studied the flute in the class of Professor Mukerrem Berk. After her graduation, she received an artistic scholarship of the French Government and studied at the National Academy of Region of Lyon, where she obtained her Diploma of Musical Study in 2003 in the class of José-Daniel Castellon.
Beneficiary of a scholarship of Swiss Confederation, she studied at the Music Conservatory of Lausanne obtaining diplomas of concert and pedagogy in 2005. At the High Music school of Geneva she obtained her Master's degree of traverse flute in the Center of Early Music in the class of Serge Saïtta where she obtained her Post-Graduate degree with distinction. Nihan Atalay has won several prizes from the Jean Tanner foundation, the Nicati de Luze foundation, theGeneva Association of Women Graduates of Universities.She currently plays piccolo and flute with the Chamber Orchestra of Geneva giving baroque music concerts and teaches as a substitute professor at the Geneva Conservatory. She has been invited to numerous orchestras of the young musicians in Europe. In particular, she played with Pierre Boulez at the Festival of Lucern in 2005. She has been selected to play by the Conservatory of Geneva during the European Music Association Early Music Platform In January 2011 and San Francisco Bach Music Festival.
